Why does it take that long? First, Capital One will gather information about your dispute from you, and then based on that information, choose the best suitable chargeback to the merchant. Once the chargeback is submitted, the merchant has 45 days to respond to Capital One. If we receive a response from the merchant, we will notify you and you can decide whether you still want to continue the dispute based on the documents the merchant has provided. If you decide to continue, we may request additional supporting documentation from you to continue the dispute. Capital One will have 43 days to respond to the merchant's challenge, which includes receiving any requested supporting documents from you, and sending those documents back to the merchant.
