        As each character progressively gets more drunk, Mel tells the group a story about an elderly couple that were brought into the ER with extremely serious wounds from a car accident in which they had been involved in an effort to prove a point about his perception of love. Despite several tangents in his telling of the story, he becomes irritated and restless, and the tension around the table rises.

        The suspense in this story is built around Mel and Terri's bickering or fighting or arguing. You know how it feels to be around people who are arguing tense, awkward. We don't know who will say or do what next, we don't know if this argument is a serious incident in their relationship or a fairly ordinary occurrence. And we're never quite sure what to say. We're on our toes.
