Mitosis - Coggle Diagram
Mitosis
What it is?
It is a continuous process
Is a copying division
Four main stages
Interphase
Cell prepares division
DNA stores cell´s genetic information
Chromosome - double stranded DNA molecule
Cytokinesis
Cell membrane pinches in
Divide nuclei, cytoplasm, organelles
Form two daughter cells
Begin Interphase
Stage 1
Prophase
Chromosomes condense and shorten
Nucleus' membrane begins to dissolve
Mitotic spindle appears
Stage 2
Metaphase
Double chromosomes
line up at equator cell
Nucleus' membrane completely dissolved
chromosomes attached mitotic spindle
Stage 3
Anaphase
Chromosomes separate
move to opposite ends of the cell
Both sets of chromosomes are identical
have identical genetic information
Stage 4
Telophase
Mitotic spindle disappears
Nuclear envelope being formed
around each set chromosomes
form two new nuclei
Separated chromosomes arrive
opposite sided of cell
