Deforestation - Coggle Diagram
Deforestation
Definition
It is a phenomenon, caused by the impact of human activities or by natural causes.
Problems
-
The loss or displacement of flora and fauna, as well as the increase in greenhouse gases.
-
A large number of plant and animal species are affected by these losses and could become extinct :skull_and_crossbones:.
Brief description
Jungles, forests :deciduous_tree:, and mangroves help control global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide, and then transforming it into oxygen.
In recent years, large areas have been destroyed, as trees are cut down for timber, to expand ranching areas :cow2:, burned to clear land for agriculture :fire: or to build buildings :building_construction: :house_buildings:.
Many of these sites are located on nutrient-poor soils, and when they are cut or burned, the rain :rain_cloud: partially washes away the soil, so the area can become a desert :desert:.
Predictions
Could it be that in the future we will have forests, jungles or mangroves to visit?
