*Mother Art was formed in 1973 to address the issues of artists as mothers. Over thirteen years, eight women were involved in the working of the group, among other Suzanne Siegel. Although it is true that Mother Art collective emerged from the specific socio-political context of the 2nd wave feminism. However by incorporating intersectional practice and thinking, Mother Art collective went far ahead of its time. Knowing and understanding the particular context of Mother Art collective, might be helpful in building our collective body of knowledge and understanding of autonomy in today’s context of independent and self-organised practices.
