    - - cognitivism: beliefs have a cognitive function, they can be true or false. don't deny beliefs can have emotional value

- - - - is the standard itself susceptible to criticism? if you have an individual that takes the position that stealing is permissible because property is theft, and you're liberating things they don't have a right to, then you can't criticize the thief because he doesn't hold the standard of property rights anyway.

        you can have objective moral law that does not rely on divine lawmaker. there can be objective logical law.
      - addressing the theist: don't misinterpret the book of exodus, don't misinterpret the story about god giving moses the ten commandments. god did not make the moral law, god knows what is objectively morally true and what is objectively morally false. god knows what the objective moral law is. discovers it.
        
        god is perfectly good, the ultimate philanthropist -> love of humanity. god shares his knowledge of objective morality with human beings who are fallible and not able of gaining knowledge of objective morality.
