Findings and conclusions
- Incubator group followed Lorenz, control group (comparison group) followed the mother.
- Lorenz identified a critical period in which imprinting needs to happen
- If imprinting doesn't happen in this time , chicks will not attach themselves to the mother figure
- sexual imprinting also occurs where by the birds acquire a template of the desirable characteristic required to in mate.
findings and conclusion
baby monkeys cuddled the cloth covered mother in preference to the plain wire mother regardless of which gave the milk. this suggest contact comfort is more important than food when it comes to attachment behaviour.
