THIEN MU PAGODA
ARCHITECTURE
This architecture together with other works form a cohesive complex, bringing unique and different features but still bold Hue.
The tower was built in front of the pagoda with a height of 21m, including 7 floors. Each floor has a Buddha image, the top floor has a golden Buddha image.
Phuoc Duyen tower is an essential architectural work of Thien Mu pagoda, we can see it from afar.
Dai Hung Palace is the main temple in the temple, also a magnificent architectural work.
The old Huong Nguyen communal house is one of the very special wooden structures of the reign of King Thieu Tri (1841-1847), currently only the ribs are preserved.
At the end of the garden is the tomb tower of the late Most Venerable Thich Don Hau, the famous abbot of Thien Mu Pagoda, who devoted his life to charitable activities.
HISTORY
Thien Mu Pagoda, also known as Linh Mu Pagoda, is one of the most ancient and beautiful pagodas in Hue city.
The pagoda is located on Ha Khe hill, on the north bank of the Perfume River, in Huong Long village, just 5 km from the city center.
Thien Mu Pagoda was built in the year of Tan Suu (1601), during the reign of Lord Tien Nguyen Hoang - the first Nguyen Lord in Dang Trong.
A long time ago, an old woman appeared on the hill where the temple stands today, telling the locals that the gods would come and build a Buddhist temple for the prosperity of the country.
HOW TO GET THERE
You can come here by car, motorbike or cyclo... as you like.
Boat ride: Take a dragon boat along the Perfume River for about 30 minutes to reach Thien Mu Pagoda, enjoy the cool breeze blowing on the riverbank with beautiful scenery.
By car with a private driver, cyclo: Go along Kim Long Street and before turning onto Nguyen Phuc Chu Street. It takes about 10 minutes with 2km from the city center.
IMPORTANT NOTES
You should pay attention to wear minimalist, polite and discreet clothes.
Walk lightly, speak softly, do not make noise and swear in the temple premises, affecting the sacred and pure space.
if you go to the temple around May and June, you will have the opportunity to see the red phoenix flowers blooming in an area, or from summer to the end of Vu Lan season, you can see the most beautiful Sala flowers.
