A simple circuit - Coggle Diagram
A simple circuit
Sometimes it's necessary to make a current stronger
Rather than simply turn it on or off
One way of doing this is to vary resistance within the circuit using a fuse
The volume control on a radio for example
Operates a variable resistor
Which adjusts the flow of current through the radio
Making the sound louder or quieter
When it is off, a gap separates the connecting wires so that the current cannot complete its path
A current with such a gap is called an open circuit
some circuits have a resister or a circuit breaker
They function ad automatic switches that open the circuit if too much current flows through it
This prevents wires from overheating and causing damage
An electric circuit is the path followed by an electric circuit
It consists of three basic part source of electrical energy
Such as a battery or generator
An output device a such as a motor or bulb
And a connection between such as were or cable
The output device uses the electrical energy from the source to do something useful
For example a bulb provides light and an electric motor produces mechanical motion
The electric source creates an electromotive force than causes an electric current
A circuit may also contain other elements to control the current flowing in it
Most circuits include a switch to turn a device on and off easily
