DEFINITION
Consolation is a family of practices and interventions (comforting gestures, rituals, oral or written communication, etc.) that aim to reduce distress produced by the experience of the limitations of human existence, to restore as much as possible normal functioning, and to foster resilience in the face of past as well as (unspecified) future losses.
