ASSURE MODEL
The first step
1. Analyze Learners: To use instructional media and technology effectively in classes, the characteristics of the learners and the content of the methods must be compatible (Heinich et al., 2002). Therefore, analyzing the learners is crucial as a first step.
Analyzing General Characteristics:
Age, grade, and cultural or socioeconomic factors are a few examples of general characteristics that instructors should analyze for the efficiency of the model (Heinich et al., 2002). Knowing these elements can help educators select appropriate strategies and media to employ in the process.
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
"-The lesson is prepared for 4th Grade students. -There are 9 females and 7 males.
-They are coming from middle-class families."
Analyzing Specific Entry Competencies:
Specific entry competencies include the level of students’ prerequisite skills and attitudes. Analyzing these enables educators to understand learners' readiness in the focus subject and adapt their approach accordingly (Heinich et al., 2002).
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
"Students have already learnt;
-Present Simple,
-Wh- questions"
Analyzing Learning Styles:
Learning styles define the spectrum of psychological traits that affect how individuals approach the learning process and respond to the learning environment (Nurdi, 2017). Even though it is still challenging to determine a student's learning style, educators can make decisions in assisting the learning process after looking at various cues.

The second step
2. State Objectives: The objectives specify precisely what students are expected to achieve and what new capability they should possess at the end of the lessons. In this way, the instructor can set up the learning environment appropriately by selecting the appropriate methods and media. Objectives can be written using the questions in ABCD formula (Artz, 2011).

The third step
3. Select Methods, Media and Materials: Methods, media, and materials should be selected in a systematic approach in order to integrate these flawlessly throughout the learning process (Heinich et al., 2002). Thus, a selection method with three steps can be used.
Selecting a Specific Material:
To get suitable materials, instructors can design new ones, adapt already-existing ones, or use materials that are already on hand (Heinich et al., 2002). You can check this link for detailed information about this topic: https://tinyurl.com/5n7emvrs
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
- Board
- Student book
- Flashcards
Selecting a Method:
In order to reach the objective of the lessons, instructors should select appropriate methods to assist learning. In this way, teachers can maintain the learning process in a way that all students pursue their individual practice regardless of their preferred learning style (Heinich et al., 2002).
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
- CLT
- Question and answer
- Pair and group work
Selecting a Media Format:
Considering that each medium has its own limitations and advantages, it is significant to choose the proper one for the learning process (Heinich et al., 2002). At this step, Dale's Cone of Learning Model can be employed to choose a medium that will stimulate learners at various levels of abstraction.

Definition
What is ASSURE Model? •
Teaching with instructional media and technology requires meticulous planning and preparation. In this manner, the learning process can integrate efficient materials and appropriate methods to achieve accurately chosen objectives. An instructional model like “ASSURE Model”, therefore, is a great assist for teachers to guide them systematically in the preparation process of the lessons (Artz, 2011). This model is based on six fundamental steps that should be followed in order to set up well-designed lessons that incorporate media and technology effectively. To properly learn the model, please go through the steps in the mind map one by one and examine the additional links. There are brief lesson plan entry examples to clarify each steps, but you can also click this link to make additional research on the full source: https://tinyurl.com/yuxuxr49.
The fifth step
5. Require Learner Participation: As the lessons should require the active mental engagement of learners to be efficient, activities that let students practice and receive feedback should be incorporated into the process. There are many different participation activities for this purpose, ranging from finishing a worksheet to making a product, and many of them can be supported greatly by a proper media (Heinich et al., 2002).
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
- Questions to Ask: -Do you want to see another country?
- Activities to do: Show flashcard one by one and introduce countries. Have students repeat the countries.
The sixth step
6. Evaluate and Revise: This step enables teachers to see the full scope of students' knowledge acquisition and the efficiency of the lessons. Consequently, it supports the cycle of ASSURE model and aids instructors in identifying flaws and setting up the system appropriately for the optimal use of instructional technology (Heinich et al., 2002).
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
- Evaluate learners: Monitor and observe students during the activities.
- Evaluate media and
methods: Ask the students "Did you like our flashcards and our poster work."
- Evaluate instructor
performance: After the class, make a reflection on the classes you teach today.
The forth step
4. Utilize Media and Materials: Once methods, media, and resources have been chosen systematically, teachers must decide how to incorporate these in order to make the best use of them. For that goal, the "5 Ps" strategy can be employed (Kurt, 2016).
Prepare the Environment:
Before lessons, the learning environment should be checked to minimize obstacles throughout the process. For instance, there should be no noise in a class, or the internet connection should be steady in an online lesson (Kurt, 2016).
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
- Arrange the desks to move easily.
- Put the speakers on the front of the desks.
Prepare the Learner:
The goals of the lectures, the assignments that will be given, and the methods of assessment should all be explained by the instructors to the learners (Kurt, 2016).
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
- Make students say what they learnt in the previous lessons.
- Inform the students about to topic.
Prepare the Materials:
Instructors should confirm that all of the needed materials are efficiently working and ready before the lesson (Kurt, 2016).
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
- Arrange the desks to move easily.
- Put the speakers on the front of the desks.
Provide the Learning Experience:
The last stage is to put the lesson into practice. The planning process should be kept in mind when instructors deliver the lesson and act accordingly (Kurt, 2016).
Preview the Materials:
It's critical to think through how to use the chosen materials in advance. Instructors can make a rehearsal the lessons a few times to assure a continuous and flawless lesson (Kurt, 2016).
An Example Written in a Lesson Plan (Lesson plan 1)
- Check the board: Is it clean or not?
- Check the electrical equipment (projector, loud speaker, computer): Do they function?
