5 SCADA elements:
- Operator
Humans who monitor SCADA systems and perform supervisory control functions.
- Human Machine Interface (HMI)
displays data to the operator and provides control input in various formats namely Graphics, Schematics, Pull-down Menus, Touch Screens and Windows
- Master Terminal Unit (MTU)
shows data to the operator via HMI, collects data from remote sites and sends control signals
- Communications
Communication is done via Internet, Wireless, Wired Network, Public Switched Telephone Network
- Remote Terminal Unit (RTU)
Sends control signals to devices under control, acquires data from these devices and sends data to the MTU.

Intergrated SCADA :
- This type of SCADA only consists of several PLC/RTUs connected to several DCSs using only 1 MTU
- MTU is connected to the computer using LAN, WAN and internet
- Examples of Intergrated SCADA are, water systems, subway systems and security systems
Networked SCADA :
- This SCADA has more than 1 MTU connected to each other and 1 MTU will act as a coordinator
- The MTU center connects with the outside using LAN, WAN and the Internet.
- Examples of Networked SCADA Power Systems and Communication Systems.
Introduction
Scada is a system that monitors and controls field devices, Scada can also help maintain efficiency by collecting and processing data in real time or real time (the time the process is done).
A modern SCADA uses a computer to show the status of sensors and actuators and it can also display graphics and can store data.
Basic SCADA:
only use RTU/PLC to control the device and only 1 MTU is used for SCADA basic Examples of basic SCADA are car manufacturing robots, room temperature control and water level control
RTU stands for Remote Terminal Unit, sometimes also called Remote Telemetry Unit or Remote Telecontrol Unit.
A RTU is a microprocessor based device that monitors and controls field devices, that then connects to plant control or SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems.
A typical SCADA system consists of an RTU connected to a process transmitter and a final control element, performing basic control functions
These RTU devices communicate digitally to the MTU at a central location where human operators monitor the process and issue commands.

Generating Stations
- SCADA is playing a major role to operate the input fuel flow rate to
the turbine
- SCADA is monitoring the speed and frequency because these have to maintain within the permissible limits
- The important operations are doing power plant control and protection system, electrical balance of plant ( LV), turbine and generator components and communication systems

In power system, SCADA was utilize at Generating Stations, Distribution Management Systems ( and Distribution Load Forecasting (DLF)

PART 3
Process Control
A. Process control is the process to maintain at the desired operation conditions, safely and efficiently, while satisfying environmental and product quality requirements
