Central America has a unique location in the world. It is south of Mexico and north of South America. It also has the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east. The only country that does not have coastline along the Caribbean Sea is El Salvador. The other six countries have miles of coastline and ports along the Caribbean Sea. The cruise ship industry has contributed to the rise of tourism in Central America since the 1990s. Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, and Nicaragua all have ports that welcome cruise ships, with Costa Rica and Panama having the highest traffic. The tropical weather, clear water, and sandy beaches make Central America a popular place to visit
