Telemachus brings out the nurse, and she is happy to see the suitors dead. But the king tells her that it is wrong to rejoice over the dead bodies of the men. Odysseus says that the men’s dishonorable behaviors have angered the gods, and he then asks her to gather the sleeping servants who have brought shame to the household by sleeping with the suitors. As they arrive, he tells the servant women to help Telemachus, Eumaeus, and Philoetius to clear away the blood and corpses. After finishing the job, Telemachus hands the women with a cable and the three men take Melanthius outside cutting off his nose, ears, hand, and feet. At the end, Odysseus instructs the servants to sterilize the house with smoke.
