He would ask lot of people questions about their faith, as a result of this when looking for the teachings of Jesus we also look at the people around Jesus.
The parables were not invented with the intention of being used as a teaching tool, but they ended up being used a lot in Jewish culture.
Many great philosophers used these parables to teach. These parables are the oldest books I the bible and an example would the 'Good Samaritan'.
Since these parables were used so much in Judaism many of them survived from ancient times to modern day.
The word 'Parable' use to have many meanings but now it is a lot more specific, a parable must come from a living or lived experience.

Jesus' was the master of the use of the parable, he would use them as a way to bring people together.
Jesus would give value & appreciate the people who listened making the less fortunate feel valued & significant.
Those who listened to Jesus' parables could see a part of themselves in the parable & relate to the story.
The listeners could identify & relate with the world that Jesus, described
Jesus had a parable for every situation imaginable, he had one for the husbands, wives, sons, daughter etc.
As a result of this people who were poor, rich, happy, sad etc. began to listen to Jesus which resulted in the word of God being spread.
Jesus would call the people who listen to his parables 'metonia' meaning, 'the change of mind which is brought about repentance".
