Making an observation
For the first step, one can observe anything in the world that they find interesting, that they want answers from and that they would like to learn about.
These observations can be specific or broad, but having something specific might help with later steps.

The scientific method consists of the process of establishing facts through testing and experimenting.

Summary of the process
Making an observation, forming a hypothesis, making a prediction, conducting an experiment and analyzing the results.
Create a prediction
Based on the hypothesis, it is essential to create a prediction on what the experiment will answer and what are the possible troubles one might have.
Perform a test
The test is the key element to the scientific method for it allows for new discoveries. These tests need variables to facilitate the gathering of evidence. The usual variables are the dependent, independent and control/base variable.

Share conclusion
Science is a social activity. Nothing is done individually. One of the most important steps of the scientific method is peer review. To have other people agree or disagree with you is key to a factual and trustworthy research.
