Shigeo Shingo's Contributions
Push & Pull
A section will only be created if the line after it requires it.
The workstations employ "Kanbans," which are cards that specify how much and when raw materials must be sent for the next line.
Pull is the production or purchase of materials in response to the demand required for later stages.
Push is a planning-based strategy that arranges its production in accordance with potential futures.
Poka Yoke
It is a quality control method for finding mistakes.
It is a detecting equipment sensitive to anomalies or deviations of the pieces being processed, and its Japanese name means "error-proof."
YOKERU:Avoid
POKA: Unintentional errors.
It is made up of a detection system and an alarm system (visual and sound).
The Toyota Production System
The philosophy of this approach is "zero inventory in process." It is a collection of systems that enables one to produce at a level that enables JIT fulfillment.
Since production is halted until the causes of production defects are resolved, the number of production defects is reduced to zero.
Waste, energy use, and other consumables are all minimized to a minimum by eliminating all flaws.
In-process inventory, diverted materials, or damaged materials do not need to be stored by factories.
SMED
It minimizes the amount of time needed for the changeover process and improves its dependability, both of which lower the chance of errors and breakdowns.
In less than 10 minutes, the format or tool adjustments required to move from one batch to the next can be completed.
5 S´s
Order and cleanliness are two key components of the Toyota production system.
The Japanese method of the five S's can be used to organize the workstation:
Seri: Selection. Separate what is required from what is not.
Seiton: Order. Everything has a place and a place for it.
Seiso: Cleaning. Create procedures for maintaining a tidy workplace.
Seiketsu: Standardization. Create simple-to-follow guidelines and standards.
Shitsuke: Maintenance. Create routines to help you do it.
Just In Time
It is a method that allows for the diversification of products by increasing the number of models and their units while also adjusting production to demand.
Produce the items that are absolutely necessary, when it is appropriate, and in the appropriate amounts.
Eliminate the need for inventories by producing the fewest number of units in the smallest amounts and at the last minute.
