Different Notions of Scientists
(Lankshear and Knobel 2004) have demonstrated the continuing interest in it.
Number of book length guides for teachers on the subject (Stonehouse 1975)

It extends beyond thoughtful teaching of the kind often associated with reflective practice and should also involve, as Freeman (1998)
Benefits of teacher research
A fundamental argument behind EBP is that when teachers are able to engage in research and make justified pedagogical decisions informed by sound research evidence this will have a beneficial effect on both teaaching and learning
Kincheloe(2003, 18-19), for example provides an extensive list in which, amongst other benefits he argues thet through research teachers teachers can:
Begin to understand in deeper and richer ways what they know from experience
Appreciate the benefits of research
be seen as learners rather than functtionaries who follow top down orders without question
be seen as knowledge workers who reflect on their professional needsand current understandings
explore the learning processes occuring in thier classrooms and attempt to interpret them.
EBP as a model for professionals action in education has emphasized even further the idea that engagement by teachers in reaserch is desirable
Numerous more specific benefits to teachers of engaging in such activities have been proposed.
