Executive Branch: Enforce Laws
President- Military & Law Enforcement
President can be elected every 4 years. Up to two terms.
Judicial Branch:Interpret Laws
Supreme Court- Supreme Court Justice: (No age requirement) 9 justices, nominated by the president and confirmed by a majority senate vote, hold office as long as they stay. (serve for life)
Chief Justice: In charge of clerical portion of supreme court
Checks & Balances:
apply to all branches of government. To prevent any one branch to become too powerful.
Federalism:
Shared government (State & National level)
Separation of Powers / Branches of Government: Each branch of government has its own responsibilities and limitations
Bill of Rights (1791): First 10 amendments; guarantees civil rights and liberties.
Political Party:
Republican: republic, conservativeskjiop
Independent: No party affiliation
Conservative: Individual freedom.
Liberal: Believing in equality and individual liberty. supporting private property and individual rights
Democrat: Free flow of information among citizens, groups, candidates for public office, and political parties.
Moderate: Position avoiding extreme views
