        To be able to say something about the scope of media debates, researchers must distinguish whether media texts introduce the same established actors or allow for alternative marginal actors and demands. Debates are found to be closed, when media texts privilege particular established actors and preferences.
        
        Who publishes these articles? Professional journalists or alternative thinkers, think tanks, representatives of socio-environmental groups or citizen journalists?
