378 CE: Goths fought the Romans at the Battle of Adrianople, the Romans lost, and the Goths were allowed to enter the Roman Empire.
418 CE: Visigoths settled in Gaul (modern France) as foederati (soldiers given land in exchange for defending the empire) of Rome.

The crown is a clever way to show who's king without having to have a heavy weight on your head (I bet the person who thought this up suffered from headaches)
I see the letters "REX" which means "King" in Latin, so the Visigoths probably spoke Latin.
The Goths had run-ins with the Huns, sometimes fighting them, sometimes serving them.
The Getica is obsessed with talking about how the Gothic kings were descended from the same family, either as sons or cousins or sons of cousins.
Gothic royalty was raised in Constantinople. Mathesuentha, a Gothic princess married the cousin of Emperor Justinian and had a son.
It's Attila's fault that the Visigoths fought against their brothers, the Ostrogoths.

There are peaceful Goths who don't know how to grow their own grapes to make wine. The also drink milk.

Theoderic was also a friend of the Roman Emperor Zeno, who made him a Consul.
Theoderic begged Emperor Zeno to let him serve as an agent of Rome and kick out Odoacer. He became king of Italy with Zeno's permission.
