- exp: diagram, pictures, charts, etc
Audio
- produced by vibration as perceived by the sense of hearing
- exp: speech, sound effects and music
Animation
- the illusion of motion created by the consecutive display of images of static elements
- it is to enhance the experience of user to further understand the information conveyed

- the technology of capturing, recording, processing, transmitting and reconstructing moving pictures

- Discrete : Space based (text & graphic)
- continuous : time based (audio, video & animation)
Linear mutimedia : plays from start position to end position with little or no intervention
Interactive (non-linear) multimedia: allows viewer to jump around the material by interacting with it
Advantages of multimedia
- easier to use
- more efficient and enjoyable
- explains better than an in depth training manual which costly.
- more interactive
Disadvatages of multimedia
- requires high-end computer system
- costly and process may takes time
- may not be accessible to a large section of its intended uses if they do not have access to multimedia capable machine
