HOAN KIEM LAKE
History and Legend
On one occasion, King Le Loi was walking on a boat on Ta Vong Lake, when suddenly the Golden Turtle emerged asking for a magic sword. King Le Loi returned the sword and the Golden Tortoise took the sword and disappeared.
Since then, the king changed the name of the lake to Hoan Kiem Lake or Hoan Kiem Lake.
The name Hoan Kiem Lake appeared in the early 15th century, associated with the legend of King Ly Thai To returning the magic sword to the Golden Turtle.
