Definition.
Anxiety is a normal emotion, is a way of reacting strees and alerting of potentional danger.
Types of Anxiety.
- Generalized anxiety disorder: It occurs when a person feels chronic anxiety and tension.
- Social anxiety: Also called "Social Phobia." It is when a person feels extreme shyness like speaking in public.
- Specific phobias: A person feels an intense fear of a specific object or situation.
- Panic disorder: A person has panic attacks that include chest pain or heart palpitations.
Characteristics
- Persistent worry or anxiety.
- Think too much about plans and solutions.
- Perceive situations and events as threatening, even when they are not.
- Difficulty managing the uncertainty.
"Sleeping Disorders."
Definition.
Sleep disorders are conditions that affect sleep or prevent sleep from being restful and can cause daytime sleepiness.
Types of Sleeping Disorders.
- Insomnia: When a person has difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep throughout the night.
- Sleep apnea: Occurs when a person's breathing is interrupted during sleep.
- Restless legs syndrome: Occurs when there is an uncomfortable sensation and an urge to move the legs while the person tries to fall asleep.
- Narcolepsy: Characterized by extreme sleepiness during the day.
Characteristics
- Excessive daytime sleepiness.
- Irregular breathing.
- Increased movement during sleep.
"Cognitive Disorders."

Types of Cognitive Disorders.
- Delirium: Interruptions in thinking, perception and memory.
- Dementia: It decreases in multiple cognitive areas including memory. Alzheimer’s disease is one of the main causes of dementia.
- Amnesia: Also called "Amnestic Syndrome." Inability to remember previously learned knowledge or past event.
Characteristics
- Confusion.
- Poor motor coordination.
- Loss of short-term or long-term memory.
- Identity confusion.
- Impaired Judgment.
"Psychotic Disorders."
Definition.
These are mental health conditions associated with behavioral changes that affect the mind.
Types of Psychotic Disorders.
- Schizophrenia: Is defined as a mental disorder in which people have changes in their behavior, is the result in some combination of hallucinations and delusions.
- Schizoaffective disorder: Is a combination of psychotic features and mood symptoms such as depression or bipolar disorder.
- Schizophreniform disorder: In this case people experience symptoms of schizophrenia, but in a shorter time.
- Delusional disorder: This condition has as characterized delusions.
- Brief psychotic disorder: Is an episode of psychotic behavior.
- Substance-induced psychotic disorder: Short-term and long-term effects of certain drugs.
- Psychotic disorder due to a medical condition: Medical conditions can cause temporary or prolonged psychosis.

Definition.
Are conditions that cause unhealthy eating habits to develop causing health consequences.
Types of Eating Disorders.
- Anorexia Nervosa: Characterized by weight loss, these people restrict the number of calories and create extreme restrictions.
- Binge eating disorder: People with this disorder eat large amounts of food until they feel uncomfortable.
- Bulimia Nervosa: People eat unusually large amounts of food and then try to compensate by vomiting.
Characteristics
- Gastrointestinal distress to death.
- Dramatic weight loss.
- Refusing to eat certain foods.
- Sleep irregularities.
- Dry skin.
- Preoccupation with weight, food, calories or dieting.
"Depression."
Definition.
It is a mood disorder that negatively affects how a person feels, thinks and how acts.
Types of Depression.
- Major depressive disorder: This type of disorder is when a person feels depressed most of the time and interferes with their daily lives.
- Bipolar depression: Also called "Manic Depression" People have alternating periods of low mood and high-energy.
- Perinatal and postpartum depression: Perinatal depression can occur during pregnancy and is called postpartum depression after having the baby.
- Persistent depressive disorder: It is also known as dysthymia or chronic depression because of its long duration.
- Premenstrual dysphoric disorder: Attacks when women have their menstrual period.
- Psychotic depression: People with this depression have severe symptons such as delusions or hallucinations, affecting their reality.
- Seasonal affective disorder: Some people experience depression related to certain seasons such as the winter months.
