- - - - In acute thyroiditis, patients may complain of fever, shivering, neck pain, sore throat, hoarseness, and difficulty swallowing. Neck pain is usually unilateral and may radiate to the mandibula , ear, or occiput.
    - - Neck pain is usually localized in the anterior of neck and may radiate to the ears and jaw. Systemic symptoms that may appear are fatigue, malaise, and subfebris fever.
  - - - In acute thyroiditis, the patient may have a fever of up to 38–40 degrees Celsius. In addition, you can find swelling of the thyroid gland that is red and painful. This can appear unilateral. Regional abscess or lymphadenopathy may also be found on inspection or palpation of the neck.
    - - On physical examination, subacute thyroiditis may reveal a subfebris temperature, enlargement of the thyroid gland, and neck pain that is aggravated by extension. In hyperthyroidism, tachycardia can be found and the difference in systolic and diastolic pressures is getting farther apart.
    - - In chronic thyroiditis, palpation may reveal glandular enlargement, tenderness, texture abnormalities, or nodules. In autoimmune thyroiditis, a painless goiter is usually found. In Riedel's thyroiditis, a fixed, firm, painless goiter may be found on palpation.
