as people have a combination of cultural differences in religion, celebrations, traditions, costumes, family structures, beliefs, norms, values, and have a shared history and experiences.

: are respected and appreciated for guidance based on experience they have, also play grandparent role in the family; contribute financially, look after grandchildren, take part in primary socialization, help maintain cultural traditions

: childhood didn't exist in the Middle Ages and idea of childhood nowadays is a social construct. Children resist adult authority by acting up and down
teenagers
: there's status anxiety as now society is achieved instead of ascribed as young people feel pressure to achieve. May sometimes join subcultures to revel against dominant culture values

immigration and cultural globalization has meant that there's now enthic identities based on a mix of different cultures

: with pensions, better health care, and better medicine, they live longer and have spending-power which industries now focus on. They have a greater role in family

: Education period being extended and people living with parents for longer.
