Matter
Matter is another word for the stuff things are made of. Everything around us is made of matter, from the air we breathe to the water we drink—even our own bodies. Planet Earth is made of matter, and so are all the stars, planets, and moons in the universe

A liquid is a nearly incompressible fluid that conforms to the shape of its container but retains a (nearly) constant volume independent of pressure.
As such, it is one of the four fundamental states of matter (the others being solid, gas, and plasma), and is the only state with a definite volume but no fixed shape.
It can be compressed to an extent, e.g. — Milk, water, ink, etc.
Particles are close to each other, but not as much as solids
No fixed shape, they take the shape of the container

Solid is one of the four fundamental states of matter. The molecules in a solid are closely packed together and contain the least amount of kinetic energy. A solid is characterized by structural rigidity and resistance to a force applied to the surface

It can not be compressed, e.g. — Sand, Wood, Copper, Ice, etc.
