When the dogs were given oxytocin they showed more affiliation with their owner than when given saline.
Discussion
Oxytocin does increase a dogs social approach, affiliation, and orientation with their owners and other dog partners.

Question
What if the dogs used were from shelters? Their oxytocin levels are probably way off being in that type of environment. I think that using them will truly determine if oxytocin can contribute to social bonds.
