DEFINING CLAUSES
Definition
They identify a noun more clearly and make it clear which person or thing we are talking about. They also allow us to write complex sentences.
WHICH, animal or things. Suject pronoun.
WHOM, also for people but used as an object pronoun.
THAT, for people or things. Subject or object pronoun.
WHOSE, people or things. Progressive pronoun.
WHO, for people. Subject or object pronoun.

NON DEFINING CLAUSES
Definition
They give more information about a noun, but they do not define or identify the noun. They are commonly used in written english.
WHO, for people. Subject or object pronoun.
WHO, WHICH and WHOM are never replaced by "that".
WHOM, for people. Object pronoun. It is only used in very formal english.
WHICH, for things, animals. Subject or object pronoun.
