Good journals have: lots of citations and references, not too old but not too recent and good index rating of journal it's published in.

Sources of Information
Primary Literature: original research and immediate results, e.g. dissertations, peer-reviewed articles/journals, conference proceedings, technical reports.
Secondary Literature: summarises primary literature, usually broader, e.g. books, lit review articles.
Tertiary Literature: condensed versions which reference primary & secondary literature sources, e.g. textbooks, handbooks, expert reports.
APA 7th Referencing
Important because: acknowledge other researchers' ideas, provides evidence to support own claims, trace back to primary source, avoid academic misconduct - plagirism.

A reference list should include anything cited in your work, should be in alphabetical order and should have a hanging indent.
