Reflexology: --Various organs are mapped out on the feet. --Organs can be seen and felt on the feet
4 theories
Nerve/Impulse Theory: Reflexology clears nerve pathways. We have a lot of nerves on our feet which connect to different parts of the body. Crystal deposits gather, feel like grains of sand. We work on crystals to break them down.
The Energy/Meridian Theory: Energy channels runnng through our bodies. Clear blockeages in the energy flow. work on specific points help to release blocked energy.
Endorphine Release Theory: Feel good factor. Natural pain killer.
Improved Circulation of Blood & Lymph: Digestive, urinary, reproductive systems don't get enough when stressed out. Helps to improve circulation. Work on reflexes for the heart, lymphatic system to help those organs.
10 Longitudinal Zones
Shoulder line. Diaphragm line. Waistline. Pelvic line
Head. Chest. Abdominal organs. Pelvic area
Reading of the Feet
Part of the story. Observe the client. Ask questions. Listen to your intuition
During the treatment observe: Sore spots - could indicate problem in corresponding organ. Crystals - grainy bits. Organ or system problem. Empty reflexes - missing an organ, certian areas feel empty.
Foot chart
Skin Color
Red: pain, infection, anger, soreness on pressure point, inflammation, congestion, overactive reflex. Ex. Fibromayalgia, people who are extremely angry, problems with organ
Yellow: smoke, medication (antibiotics), infection, feeling fed up. Toxins. Liver problem
White or pale: tired, depressed, Rynaud's Disease, poor circulation, underactive reflex. Pale in certain area could have a problem.
Blue: poor circulation, circulator or respiratory discorder, physcial or emotional stagnation
Foot Fall
back or digestive system problem
Tone
Rigid/Tight/Hard feet: muscle tension or emotional tension, rigid belief
Flaccid or spongy: tiredness, depression, recovering from illness
Firm: good muscle tone
Flabby: poor muscle tone
Blemishes
Freckles or blemishes indcate inherited illness
Temperature
warm: good circulation
Cold: fatigue, depression, poor circulation
Texture
Dry skin: dehydration, neglect, hormone imbalance, thyroid discorder
Hard skin or cracks: protection on emotional level, postural problems, neglect
Skeletal deformaties
Bunions indicate headaches
Spinal curve =Inner edge of foot is misalinged
Flexibility
Stiff: arthritis or rigid personality
Heel Fissures (deep cracks): lower back, reproductive problems, menopause
Swelling & Puffiness
kidney/heart problem
sluggish lymphatic
circulatory system
injury, arthritis, diabetes
standing for long periods
Empty: organ has been removed
Dampness: sweat, oily, damp. nervousness, stress, thyroid imbalance, problems with elimination.
Other problems
High arches (pes cavus): upper back pain (thoracic area.
Fallen arches (Pes planus): lower back pain, digestive disorder
Freckles or moles: possible hereditary weaknesses
Verruca: low energy reflex
Bunions: thyroid discrder, neck problem, headaches.
Hammer toes: headaches, sinusitis, gum or teeth disorder
Toes: Head + Face
Pituitary gland controls all the endocrine glands. Regulates thyroid, ovaries, testes, adrenal glands
Pineal gland regulates sleep + wake cycles. Good for insomnia, fatigue, jet lag, etc.
Sinus
Brain
Thyroid + Parathroid glands: over or under active - see slight bulge, extra flap of skin
Neck, throat, tonsuls,
Bronchi
Hypothalamus: links nervous system to the endocrine system via the pituitary gland.
Respitatory: Ball of Foot
Thymus = lymphatic + immune system
Lungs
Client has or is recovering from a respiratory sys. the lung area is often 'grainy'
Lungs hold grief. recurrent infections
Bronchus
Larynx (voice box) - Trachea (windpipe)-Lungs
Shoulder
Heart - Left foot. Z2+3 above diaphragm
Heart conditions, fatigue, anxiety, depression
Hard or yellow skin: heart problem, broken heart, relationship difficulties.
Esophagus (L foot)
Mouth-Pharynx (throat)-Oesophagus-Stomach.
Yellow color: smoking, antibiotics (liver is a great detoxifier), fed up
Fatigue or insomnia: better supply of oxygen means more energy
Spleen: L foot. Z4-Z5 b/w diaphragm & waistline
Diaphragm + Urinary System
Adrenal
Part of the endocrine system
for Stress: produce adrenal, helps regulate adrenal
Pain + inflammation: adrenal cortex, the outer part, produces natural steroids which help to ease pain & reduce inflammtion
Kidney, Ureter, Bladder, Urethra
for detoxification, eliminate toxins from the body
Conditions like arthritis = build up of toxins and waste products around joint area contribute to pain + arthritis
Digestive complaints - build up of toxins
Fatigue
We work on for infection of the kidney, cystitis, thrush
Digestive System
Stomach: R foot, Z1. L foot: Z1-3
Pancreas + Duodenum: Z1
Liver: al zones b/w diaphragm and waist line
Gall bladder: R foot, Z3
Small Intestines: all zones b/w waistline & pelvic line
most digestion & absorption take place here
Large Intestines
R foot: ascending and transverse colon
L foot: transverse and descending colon
Rectum, anal canal, anus: Z1 in pelvic area
Ileocacal Valve: Z5, just above pelvic line. Blocked ileo ceacal valve can cause skin conditions, epileptic fits, fatigue, headaches & depression
Why work on the Digestive System?
Digestive disorders: IBS, Cohns disease, etc.
Poor diet or poor digestion. not enough nutriets. fatigue.
Fatigue: also pancreas controls sugar levels.
Liver converts glucos to glycogen & glycogen to clucose
Acne: focus on stomach. lower levels of hydrochloric acids.
Skin conditions
allergies to food. poor diet. too much fat. poor digestive sys. ileocaecal valve blocked
Detoxification: too much toxins in our bodies
arhtritis: waste products around joint contributes to discomfort
Headaches: build up of toxins
Gluts
base of heel below pelvic line
Why work on gluts?
lower back pain, hip pan.
Reproductive System +Lower lymphatic system
Why work on the reproductive sys.?
PMT, period pain, menopause, infertility
Stress: more likely to get infection
Infection in lower point of the body, when stressed, immune sys. is compromised
Fallopian tube: overlapping reflex. Lower lymphatic area
Uterus/prostate = inside
Ovaries/testes = ouside
Spine
Why work on spine?
Back pain, shoulder pain, hip pain
Stress, depression, anxiety.
Spine releases endorphines
33 pairs of spinal nerves that effect most organs
Upper lymphatic
Why work on upper lymphatic?
Infection in the upper part of the body
Stress: immune sys. is depleted
Ribs
Breast area
