Hitler's Responsibility?
Structuralists or functionalists do not Hitler was that all powerful, controlling Fuhrer depicted by Joseph Goebbels (minister of propaganda). Historians such as Mommsen and Broszat do not consider is accurate to perceive Hitler as having full control over 70 million people, therefore argue other factors need to be given thorough attention.
Historians who support this view e.i. Dawidowitz are intentionalists. They interpret the holocaust as a set of actions stemming from a monolithic state, Hitler's personal anti-Semitism and Hitler's imperialistic actions (linked primarily to 'race' issues')
