Joints
Flexion-bending parts of a joint so that the angle between decreses.
Extension- straightening part of a joint so that the angel between them increases.
Lateral Flexion- Bending the head or neck or trunk to the side.
Hyperextension- straightening beyond normal anatomical posotion
Abduction- Moving a body part toward the midline
Adduction- Moving a body part away from the midline
Dorisfelxion-anke movement that brings the foot closer to the shin
Planterflexion- ankle movement that moves foot farther from the shin(pointed toe)
Movements allowed by Synovial Joints
Plane (gliding joint)- articulating surfaces are nearly flat or slightly curves
Hinge Joints- A convex surface of a bone fits into concave surface or another
Pivot(trochaic) joint- A cyndrical surface rotates within a ring of a bone and ligament
Disorders/diseases
Osteoarthritis- protective cartilage at ends of the bone wears down
Osteogenesis Imperfecta.- A genetic disorder that causes brittle bones.
Osteosarcoma- Malignant Bone Tumor
Osteomyelities- An infection in the bone
Paget's Disease- Metabolic bone disease affecting the break down and rebuilding the bone
Bone Fracture repair
Green Stick Fracture- Fracture is incomplete and occurs on convex surface
Fissures Fracture- incomplete longitudinal ( straight up) break
Comminuted fracture-fracture is complete and fragment of the bone
Transverse Fracture- complete break across the bone
Oblique Fracture-occurs at an angle other the right angle to the axis of the bone
A spiral fracture is caused by extensive twisting bone
