MECHANICAL DRIVE, ADRIANA AIN ALIEYA HANA - Coggle Diagram
MECHANICAL DRIVE
Traction Drive
Provides adjustable speed with
relatively high speed
Types
Non-Electrical Traction System
Direct Internal Combustion Engine
System
Steam Engine System
Electric Traction System
Electric Drive
Diesel Electric Drive
Combustion Engine with Electric
Drive
Battery Drive
Advantages
Efficient
Smooth operation
Low noise and vibration
Durability
Disadvantages
Low overload capacity
Uneconomical operation
High maintenance cost
Short life
Maintanence
Filters hydraulic circuit in addition
to hydraulic oil
Clean the rust and grease
Inspect shafts and gear
Check all sealed areas for any oil
leakage
Belt Drive
Used for transmission of mechanical power between 2 rotating shaft
Types
Flat Belt
Advantages
Cheaper
Smooth running
Simple in design
Disadvantages
High chance of slip off
Requires higher pretension to
submit certain torque
Bulky which requires wide pulley
V-Belt
Advantages
Can dampen vibration
Smooth and quiet
Disadvantages
Construction of pulley is more
complicated
Cannot be used for long distance
Round Belt
Advantages
Protects from overload
Easy maintenance
Less expensive
Disadvantages
Easily stretch and slip
Has weakest form of power
transmission
Maintenance
Maintenance
Install belt properly
Store belt properly
Maintain a safe working
environment
Troubleshooting
Inspect regularly
Geared Transmission
Provides specific fixed type ratios
Advantages
Its efficiency is very high
It is compact in construction
It is positive drive hence velocity remains constant
Disadvantages
At high speeds noise and vibration happens
They are not suitable when shafts are distant
It requires lubrication
Types
Intersecting shafts
Skew shafts
Parallel shafts
Maintenance
Replacing or cleaning the filter
Examining the sump pump
Require periodic lubrication with oils to prevent the heat generated due to the friction between the teeth of both gears from deteriorating the mechanism
Chain drive
Provide infinitely variable speeds.
Types
Load lifting chain
Hauling chain
Power transmission chain
Advantages
Can be used for both long and short distances
Temperature and environmental conditions do not affect their working
Easier to install
Can operate in wet conditions
Do not require initial tension
Disadvantages
Require adjustments for slack like tensioning device
Require frequent lubrication
Their operation is noisy and can cause vibrations
Can not be used where precise motion is required
Not suitable for non-parallel shafts
Maintenance
Check for chain/sprocket wear
Check for slack
Lubricate
Always change the chain and both sprockets together
Never wash the chain with any chemicals and never ever brush it. Lube it after riding in the rain , washing the biike.
