- - - - Making interviewees complete one or more other tasks while asking questions within an interview to 'mentally deplete' their ability to lie accurately
    - - Asking a range of unexpected questions to throw interviewees 'off track' and deplete their applied strategies when approaching the interview

        Suspects are attached to the polygraph and are asked questions relevant questions as well as comparison questions. Innocent suspects tend to become more concerned with the comparison questions, who are considered to be more truthful
      - Behaviour Analysis Interview (BAI)
        
        A set of standardised questions to determine if a suspect is guilty. It is assumed that liars feel more uncomfortable than truth tellers and will display nervous behaviours
    - - individuals are given multiple choice answers regarding the crime and will produce a physiological orienting response if they see the correct answer
