In 1953 the Ministry of Education put into effect new plans and programs, which were based on the previous programs. They were based on a statement of objectives. The curriculum included the following subjects: Manual Activities, Home Education, Artistic and Recreational Activities, Natural Sciences and Hygiene, Physical Education, Social Studies, National Languages, Mathematics, Religion and Morals, and English. In 1960, the Ministry of Education created the National Directorate of Educational Planning, thus incorporating planning into the development of national education.
