Treatment: lifestyle (weight loss, small meals, no eating 3 hours before laying down, avoid tight fitting clothes over abdomen, decrease alcohol, stop smoking); medical: antacids (for very occasional GERD), anti reflux (Gaviscon), H2 receptor antagonists, PPI ( can be used for GERD with complications). PPI- don't treat the reflux but make the reflux less acidic. take 30 min prior to first meal of the day. Safety: associated with some adverse effects- enteric infection. Surgical (fundoplicaiton, trans oral incision less fundoplicaiotn, and Linx (implanted magnetic LES)
