Example - Nazi Germany, Jews kept in ghettos in packed areas eg Warsaw 400,000. Their movement controlled by Nazi
Boundaries
Clearly demarcated area, marking territory of one group
Example - P+C areas in Belfast segregated by peace walls. Flags + Murals mark the area + intimidate rival
How it creates ED
Minimises the opportunities for social interaction as people have a desire to live in the same area as their ethnic people
