It was a movement that had as its purpose the purification of the Church of England because in their opinion they were too tied to Catholicism.
We can see the Puritans reject academic interpretations of the Scriptures and claim the individual's right to understand God's will by reading the Bible.
They argued that priests could dress as they wanted and should not be distinguished by this, but by their behavior.
This movement was very strong in London and in the South West, it had followers mainly among the merchants and the professional classes of the Members of Parliament.
They believed in the Calvinist theory that where that everything that happens has been decided or planned and this cannot be changed.
Only the grace of God can save man, it means that man must do good individual acts, work and have discipline, instead living in poverty and having free time was considered a waste.
