Organs and structures
-
-
Larynx: Can be described as a hollow tube that lets air pass from your throat (pharynx) to your trachea on the way to your lungs.
-

-
-
-
Alveoli: are the millions of thin-walled, dead-ends of the bronchioles forming clusters of air sacs acting as the respiratory surface.
-
-
Pneumocytes
-
Type II pneumocytes: Secrete surfactant that keeps the sides of the alveoli from sticking to each other (which decreases surface tension and keeps the lungs flexible.)
