Politics: absolute monarchy was
the most common form of government, king had all power.
In England they are going to have parliamentary monarchy, a form of government in wich monarchs power was limited.
Economy: agriculture was the
most important economic activity Crafts were controlled by guilds
and the establishment of new routes of trade to america.
Mercantilism: was an economic system imposed by european absolute monarchs based on the idea that a country wealth
depended on how much gold and silver they possesed
Sociey: the three states of realm-> Clergy(1st) Nobility (2nd) (they had privileges, and Bourgeoisie and peasantry (3rd) (with no privileges.
Enlightenment
Reason: the only source offf knowledge, beliefs and dogma are not considered rational. New type of religion, deism, based on the fact that god created the universe and it worrks according scientific laws.
Learning and teaching: gives freedom and create enlighted society.
Progress: use of reason and scientific improvements would lead to an harmonious and perfect society.
Happiness: Politics should be about making people happier.
Equality and liberty
Enlightenment criticism and proposals.
Polics
Montesquieu: he defended the separation of powers (legislatuve, judicial and executive.)
Voltaire: criticized religious dogmatism and defended religious tolerance. He also supported the existence of parliaments.
Rousseau: he created the idea of popular sovereignty.
