Symptoms
Inflammation of the joint
Become hot and tender to touch
painful swollen joints
usually throbbing or aching
reduced mobility

poor appetite

Treatment
It is treated using anti-inflammatory drugs
disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs)
side effects
headaches
hair loss
loss of appetite
sore mouth
diarrhoea
biological treatments
side effects
infections
feeling sick
high temperature
JAK inhibitors
Pain killers
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
these can reduce pain while also reducing inflammation
side effects
can increase the risks of stomach problems as they break down the lining that protects agaisnt stomach acids
What happens
the immune system produces antibodies which attack parts of the joint
There are periods where it may get worse called 'flare ups'
Causes
synovium becomes sore and inflamed which releases chemicals that damage different areas

arthritis can run in your family
hormones
it is more common in women than men
smoking
it increases the likeliness of developing arthritis
