Aspect 1- Colonisation
Colonisation is the process of settling among & establishing control over indigenous people of an area/country
Then America began to get colonised by the British in 1607, the British travelled there on the 'Mayflower', they also brought over Thanksgiving to signify a successful harvest
The first colonisation of America, was by Leif Erikson who was the first recorded European to arrive in America in 1000AD
These settlers on the 'Mayflower' were seeking refuge from religious persecution in Britain & mainland Europe
In the 19th century there was a belief that the European settlers were destined to expand across the United States, this is know as 'Manifest Destiny'
This resulted in Europeans arriving in America and populating it even though it was already occupied.
Cities were already built in North America & were called Cahokia, here houses, courtyards & mansions lined the streets. There were also tombs, temples, public plazas etc.
