- - - - Chang E, Hou Yi's wife, became the Goddess that lives on the moon after drinking his husband's elixir in order to stop it being stolen by Feng Meng, Hou Yi's disciple who wanted the elixir.
    - - The Jade Rabbit is the bunny that lives with Chang' E on the moon. The rabbit killed itself to feed the Jade Emperor who disguised as old hungry beggar. Moved by its action, the Jade Emperor sent her to the moon to have an eternal life.
    - - Wu Gang took the Emperor's sentence seriously in order to obtain eternal life. He tried hard to cut down the Osmanthus tree but never finished because the tree always grew again every time he cut it down. Wu Gang never gave up and kept trying again until now. On a clear night the shadow of the moon is clearly visible which is said to be the shadow of the Osmanthus tree.
    - - Hou Yi, the archer, shot down the extra nine suns in the sky. Thanks to his merit, the Queen gave him an elixir as a gift where this pill is said to make ordinary people become gods and live eternal. He is also the one who made mooncake on the order of the Gods because of his desire to met Chang' E who has became the Goddess on the moon.
