PARTS OF A PROPOSAL

Abstract: Make preliminary decicions about the proposal. It is an effective summary basic administrative and fisical data for the project
Table of contents: Only for long and detailed proposals, all sections are included in order and should be numbered in lower-case Roman numerals.
Introduction: Begins with a capsule statement and then proceeds to introduce the subject to a stranger. Gives background info, shows the problem and the solutions will advance the field or be important for some work , describes the significance of the problem, refers to studies or statistics.
Background: Make clear what the research problem is and what's been accomplished. Give evidence of your competitive field. Show why the previous works need to be continued
Description of proposed research: Comprehensive explanation of the proposed research. This section is the heart of the proposal, keep in mind that you need to: Be realistic about what can be accomplished. Be explicit about assuptions and hypothesis. Be clear about the focus. Be clear about the focus. Be as detailed as possible. Be certain that the connection between the research objectives and its methos is evident.
Description of relevant institutional resources: Details the resources available to the proposed project, shows why the sponsor should select our own project. Some relevant points are: Institution's demonstrated skill in the related research area. It's abundance of experts in related areas that may benefit. It's supportive services that will directly benefit the project. And the institution's unique or unusual research facilities or resources available.

Budget: Lays out the costs to be met by the funding source, including personnel, non-personnel, administrative and overhead expenses. This also specifies items paid for by other funding sources. INCLUDE the explanations for requested expenses
TYPES
Solicited: Response to specific call issued by a sponsor. also called RFP (Request for proposals). RFQ (Request for Quotations)
Unsolicited: submitted to a sponsor that has not issued a specific solicitation but have interest in the subject
Preproposals: Requested by a sponsor who wants to minimize an applicant's effort. Form of letter or brief abstract
Continuatior: Confirm the original proposal and funding requirements of a multi-year project. Usually dependent on satisfactory work progress.
Renewal: Request continued supportfor an existing project that is about to end. This have the same status as an unsolicited proposal
