Formative
Definition: A type of assessment used to gather evidence of student learning. These are used to adjust instruction based on student needs and provide feedback.

One Pager: Students complete a one pager on the topic that they learned in class to reinforce knowledge and express what they know.

Interim/Benchmark
Definition: An assessment to measure student preparedness and competency towards a certain learning goal. Used to make sure students are on track to be succesful.
STAAR: Standardized testing system in Texas to evaluate student knowledge at the end of a year, and ensure students are prepared for next year.
Quiz: Teachers can use a quiz during the unit to see how students do on similar types of question to the test. This data can be used to evaluate student needs and used to review questions.

Performance
Definition: An assessment where students create a project or demonstrate their knowledge in an open ended activity.
Timeline: Students create a timeline of a certain historical event or unit explaining key events that shaped the unit.

Mock Trial: Students demonstrate their knowledge by completing a mock trial for a significant supreme course case. Students will debate and form counterarguments to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
Diagnostic
Definition: Assessment used to determine what students know and need further help with for an educator to evaluate student needs and misconceptions.
Pretests: Students complete a evaluation of their knowledge to gather data before the start of the lesson.
Kahoot: Students complete a kahoot activity created by the teacher, and the teacher uses it to identify questions students struggle with and go over those questions before continuing.
