Assessment Types
Diagnostic
Defintion: A diagnostic assessment is a type of "pre-test" that helps give teachers data on what the students understand and what they don't understand.

2. Another formative assessment tool is having a remade self assessment that you give your students as a an exit ticket after each lesson. The questions could be like "did you understand todays lesson" with answer choices yes, no, kind of. This would help let the teacher know that the student may have some questions they weren't comfortable asking in class.
1. You can assess student knowledge by using craft sticks with students names written on them to draw names when you are wanting to check for understanding in class. This way you are getting to hear from all levels of students, which will help you better evaluate your teaching strategies.
Definition: Formative assessments are a way to gather evidence of student leaning, so that you can provide feedback and adjust instruction strategies in order to see student growth. These assessments are low stakes and and could possibly have zero grade.

Definition: Summative assessments are high stake assessments that help to evaluate student achievement for a speciifed unit or units.

Interm/Benchmark
1. The STARR test is an example of a benchmark assessment. Students don't receive feedback, but their scores are used to show teachers what they need to change in their instruction strategies for the next year.
Definition: Interm or Benchmark assessments are periodic tests given through the year to track student progress. These given students little to no feedback and is mostly for teacher data.
2. District assessments are given in each subject every 6-9 weeks. This tracks student progress in comparison to their peers and grade level expectations so the teacher sees how much growth needs to take place.
