Definition: A summative assessment gives students a chance to prove what he/she has learned.

Portfolios/e-folios: A portfolio that contains everything that a student has created and worked on. The student will present their portfolio after it is completed as an end of the year assessment.

Final Exam: Test that is administered to students at the end of the semester to assess student knowledge over the course.

Definition: A formative assessment gives a student a chance to to improve upon his/her learning.

Pop Quiz: A quiz that is not graded but it's used to determine what students know at that time and place.

Exit Ticket: An exit ticket over the topic of what the content was over. It could be a question or response that the student has to answer.

Definition: Used to collect data on what students already know about the topic

Running Records: Assessment used to assess a students reading level and their accuracy rate.

Definition: A comparison of student understanding or performance against a set of uniform standards within the same school year.

STAAR: An assessment that shows whether a student has mastered specific knowledge of a core subject at a certain grade level in the state of Texas.

SAT: Test that lets students show colleges what they know and how well they can apply that knowledge.

Definition: An assessment that demonstrates a students knowledge in a non-written format.

Open ended Response: Students verbally communicating their answers without the help of their notes and partner.

Lab Investigation: Having students use their skills to perform a hands-on lab activity to show what they know.

KWL Chart: Students will fill out a chart about what they know about a certain topic or content, what they want to know, and then what they learn.
