Definition Formative assessments are used to show the teacher how the student is performing in the content in order to provide them with feedback and adjust instruction.

Diagnostic
Definition Diagnostic assessments are used to determine the student's strengths and needs by using a form of pre-test or quiz. This lets the teacher know what the students understand or lack.
3-2-1 Exit slip: : Students write 3 things they learned, 2 things they found interesting, and 1 question they have about what was taught.
KWL chart: Students write what they know about the lesson, what they want to know, and what they learned at the end of the lesson.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition Interim/benchmark assessments are used to test the understanding of students throughout the school year.
