Dara O Brian's Go 8-Bit Initial thoughts
Set Design
Small set
Rotating set, has movement
meant that they could talk/face the audience at one moment like a traditional game show and then turn to face the screen so they and the audience could see the game being played.
meant that we could see behind the desk and see all the messy cables and computers that make the games work
Made the best of that smaller space
Live studio audience
Included the 8-bit style of the games in the set design itself
Liked the lighting and colours
Oranges, yellow and red and the purple, red and blue
Title graphics are very nostalgic and retro
Concept of the game
Adults (Celebrities/ comedians) play games from their days as a young teen or child (nostalgia trip)
either as head to head
or with a twist e.g. ones blind folded whilst the others giving instructions
Because depending on the game there's either 2 or 4 people playing a level it can become quite confusing and messy to see whos doing what and the set gets loud with the presenters commentating and the audience cheering mixed in with the contestants shouting made it very loud and almost inaudible
Game levels all known games but 8-bit so in this case flat 2D games
Audience participation
studio audience voted on who would win and the percentage they receive is the number of points they will win if they win win
the audience made up of mostly middle-aged men and a few middle-aged women
Had a range of different graphics/ shots during the game play
Full screen game play
Split screen one team and their game play
Both teams game play with appearing on the screen in the corner
Back of contestants head and of the game play on the live studio wall
